Michael M. Kaiser on the Arts in Crisis tour

Michael M. Kaiser, president of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is currently touring the country as part of the “Arts in Crisis: A Kennedy Center Initiative,” Kaiser will be speaking in Maine at the Portland Museum of Art between 9:15 and 11:30 am on July 1.

Yesterday Mr.Kaiser wrote an article for the Huffington Post explaining the tour so far. In the article he estimates that over 11,000 people will have attended these speaking engagements. However, he worries that such a positive turn out will not justify the time and expenses unless dramatic improvement to performing arts programming and projects follow. Tickets for the July 1 Maine event are free, but must be be reserved. They are still available online at http://artcrisis.eventbrite.com.
