The new director of the Maine Arts Commission, Julie Richard, is continuing to get out into the field to listen and learn about the state of the arts in Maine.
In her newest venture, Julie is going to be the guest as the Belfast Creative Coalition welcomes her on Oct. 31 from 8-9 a.m., in the Clifford Gallery at Waterfall Arts, 256 High Street. Everyone is welcome to attend this event.
The Maine Arts Commission last visited Belfast in August of 2011 when we toured the arts and cultural institutions, galleries, and city hall to assess Belfast’s viability for the $50,000 CC=ED grant (Creative Communities=Economic Development grant). Spearheaded by Waterfall Arts, Our Town Belfast, and the City, Belfast was awarded the grant in January of 2012 and created the Belfast Creative Coalition to cultivate the already vibrant creative economy of Waldo County.
A continental breakfast and coffee will be served and there will be a presentation on the Belfast Creative Coalition's dramatic achievements over the past nine months. Please come and enjoy the art on display at Waterfall Arts, meet Julie and hear about the exciting momentum Belfast Creative Coalition is generating for their region. Following the breakfast, the Belfast Creative Coalition will introduce Julie Richard to downtown Belfast and its bustling art scene.
